The HWM in Cardiff at the weekend was very enjoyable. The talks were excellent and I learned a lot from the workshops which are held on the Sunday.

I have been going to this national meeting for almost a Decade and have been part of the ARG UK since 2005 and the HGBI before that since 1998.

The best talk for me was the talk on Adders by Nigel Hand. This project was radio tracking adult adders in the Wyre Forest. The adders have been monitored for over 30 years and ther has been significant declines over the years.

Nigel Hands other work with snakes was the ‘What’s that Snake?’ Project by HART. Over two years the project reached 58 schools, 4,000 children and 10,000 people in total along with roadshows and other events and all for around £65,000. Look around a well known national charity and see whether they could meet that for value for money. In fact I often wonder what they spend money on but that’s another story….

More to come on HWM
