An update on the pond

In Uncategorized on November 2, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Just a short note to report on the state of the pond in November. There are plenty of mayfly larva in crystal clear water. The pond has collected quite a few leaves from the fall this autumn. I managed to collect some moss from a site I have been working on. I have also added some common reed root – the rush I have planted in the sand substrate has sprouted new shoots so I hope that the reeds will also shoot in the sand as well.

The water beetles are still present – four beetles tonight during the torch count after dark. In the water column there are also 3 or 4 beetle larva which are growing fast.

Things are going well with the pond the grass around the pond is growing long and provides another habitat as it is growing into the shallow water.

The pond has several patches of moss in the deeper water and around the shallows.

Photos to come ASAP
